A prototype of an unreleased Shantae game in 3D was just released to the public last year. According to the Hidden Palace site, the prototype was compiled by the developers on January 5, 2007, and the file containing the prototype was first publicly released by a user named DevEd on February 23, 2024. A seller by the name Leetfrog was able to obtain the mysterious prototype along with numerous other works of WayForward’s from a lot according to the Hidden Palace. The full demo showcases a playable 3D model of Shantae in various environments, including a large gray sandbox area with 3D platforming controls.

Below is a video of the fourth mode, Diablo mode. It’s still unknown the purpose of this feature in the prototype other than providing the developers a different angle to view the Shantae character.
